Can Safety Film Be Applied To The Outside Of Glass Windows?

What Is The Best Way To Clean Window Film?

Windows with window film applied can still be cleaned, although special precautions need to be taken to prevent damage to the window film. This includes if your windows are being cleaned by a professional company, who should be made aware that window films have been applied to the glass.

The main points to note is that abrasive tools, products or techniques should not be used on window film. Instead, we recommend using microfiber or sheepskin type pads for scrubbing. If a squeegee is used, then plastic rather than metal end caps will prevent the window film from becoming damaged.

For stubborn stains, a mild detergent can be used with a microfiber pad.

Does Window Film Deter Birds?

How Do I Stop Birds From Flying Into My Windows?

Glass films stock a variety of bird safety films which can be applied to your windows to stop birds flying into them. So-called bird strikes are a common issue in residential and commercial properties alike, and can cause serious injury to birds as well as damage to the window glass. However, the patterns on the window film apply a design to the window glass to help birds to see the obstruction ahead, thus helping to prevent birds from flying directly into the glass.

Why Do Birds Fly Into Glass?

Quite simply, clear window glass often means that birds cannot detect there is going to be an obstruction in their path. Therefore, they fly into the window because they expect to be able to keep flying, not realising the glass window will prevent them from doing so. It is for this reason that bird safety window film is used.

What Is The British Safety Standard For Tempered Glass?

Tempered glass (also known as toughened glass) is covered by the British Standard BS EN 12150. When broken, tempered glass breaks into small fragments with dulled edges to reduce the chance that someone may be injured. It is a requirement to use tempered glass wherever there is a possibility of human impact.
