What is crystal glass?

For those unfamiliar with crystal glass, it is a luxurious form of glass used to make high-end glassware such as wine glasses, decanters and chandeliers. Crystal glasses are often reserved for the most prestigious occasions. Known for its clarity and dazzling beauty, many of these much-revered characteristics of crystal glass have also been replicated within our SGC window films. It is possible to choose an SGC window film that offers privacy. Though, the SGC range is mostly preferred to enhance the appearance of the window glass itself.

What are crystal window films?

SGC – SimGlas® is the name given to our window films which give the appearance of crystal glass. The ability to apply the high-end look of crystal glass onto plain glass through the use of window film reduces the cost, time and effort involved in updating glass surfaces. The result gives a sophisticated look to your glass, while also boasting enhanced privacy. After the initials ‘SGC’, you’ll see a specific product code attached. Each SGC code relates to a different style of crystal window glass for ease of ordering.

What is the difference between crystal window glass and crystal window film?

Like most styles of decorative glass, it’s not easy or cheap to manufacture crystal glass. In addition, not all glass styles are suitable for particular uses, including within windows or doors. But when the design flourishes of crystal class are replicated within window film, suddenly the opportunities become endless.

A similar example is how porcelain tiles can now replicate wooden floors, to offer homeowners a more practical floor surface. The exact ethos also applies to SGC crystal window film, in that you can achieve the look of crystal glass, but within a user-friendly window film format. As we’re about to cover with our usage idea suggestions, there are lots of ways that SGC crystal window film glass can be used throughout the interior spaces of your home.

Where To Buy Crystal Window Film?

Glass Films stocks a wide range of crystal window film designs (known as SGC) on our website. Crystal window film mimics the characteristics of crystal glass but within a vinyl window film format. To purchase our window film, simply shop your preferred style, select the size you need and place your order.

Does Window Film Keep The Heat Out?

Yes, depending on the window film you select. For maximum heat rejection, we’d suggest our UltraCool-S6060 60% VLT Silver Window Film which boasts 43% solar heat rejection. Within our SGC range specifically, you’ll find a range of window films which have various UV transmission ratings, which is a similar property to look out for.
